Oh Livejournal, I have ignored thee so. Wed, Sep. 16th, 2009, 04:24 pm Work Rant
I'm getting increasingly frustrated with my work. The very little amount of work I'm being assigned is constantly dependent on other people to finish whatever they're doing. And then I'm finding my work is either just being overwritten and ignored. Or alternatively, it's just been done by the person I'm waiting on. Or done by the person I'm doing it for.
Sitting around on my ass sounds great. But I'm getting bored with nothing to do. There's only so much facebook apps I can play, and D&D design I can do before my guilt quota kicks in. And I get a double kick when I have to fill in my timesheet to indicate what I've been doing - and find something on the project list to put it down as.
My team leader is micro-managing us. Which I dislike for starters. But it does mean he should be realising I'm not doing much, if anything, and finding something for me to actually do. This is leading me to either doubt his competence, which no-one else here seems to have any indications of doing. Or that he doesn't value me ... and I'm just not going to go there right now.
I feel undervalued, under-utilised, and excess. - And no, I don't feel like talking to said team leader about it, given the above. This is potentially irrational, but it's how I feel.
I've had a good weekend overall. I have my old car back, which my civil-brother has actually improved. And he has the Datsun, and looked rather chuffed in getting it. The biggest downside of the weekend being I fell on Sunday, cutting my boarding short by about 4 hours, and I now have an extremely sore ass. Massive post in cuts: ( Friday Night: Travel Up )( Saturday: Boarding and seeing my sister! )( Saturday night: Through the Wardrobe )( Sunday: Crash Time )So in summary: I stayed at an interesting place, with a wierd small theater which you have to access via a wardrobe. I met my sister, and caught up briefly. We swapped cars. My civil-brother is damn cool at repairs and maintenence. I had a terrible time boarding, due to a bad board, binding and boot set up. Which just as I got it right on the second day, and was starting to have fun I crashed (via a somersault) and badly bruised or broke my tailbone. Thus my boarding fun was cut short by half a day. Overall I actually had fun.
My alternate plans for this weekend are apparently not on (they're actually next month). Since I have to be near Taupo on Saturday anyway, I'm planning on going snowboarding this weekend.
Now I just need to actually organise it: Skifield, accomodation, and gear rental. [Edit]: Suggestions on these would be cool, I've not organised it before.
Is anyone else wanting to go? I can provide transport to/from Wellington.
I think I left my brain behind somewhere on the way home from work yesterday. I completely failed to pack, and organise everything I need for the 48 hour last night. And then again this morning apparently. Amongst other errors and mishaps.
General clothes (x2) - check One fancy party outfit - check, less collar. Wondering if I'll get chased off to change at some point, given how tight said outfit is. Will need a check on the corset as well. Costume for Operation Jellystorm - mostly check, still got some bits to get tonight on way to airport. Games for Sunday - check. Drinks for Fri/Sat night - check, probably need more for Saturday can get down there. Clothes for work on Monday - Fail!
Also someone needs to contact our land-lord and let him know one of the washing machines is broken. I've asked flatmates to do this, but not sure they will.
Well, it seems the drama of the credit card fraud is still going on, and starting to bite me. A summary of the charges I'm currently facing: - Charges for copies of my statements - Charges for a new credit card - Interest on outstanding payments - Late fee charges for outstanding payments - Collection charges for outstanding late fees ( Details )And they still cannot tell me how is actually on my credit card, and therefor how much I'm actually supposed to be paying! Wed, Aug. 5th, 2009, 03:07 pm Phone numbers
I just updated my phone's software, and it decided as part of this to wipe all my numbers ... including the ones on my Sim. So I'm needing to get everyone's numbers ... again.
If you could please text me with your name, I'll add you back into my phone book.
Ps. Include a surname or some identifier if you've got a common name :P Tue, Aug. 4th, 2009, 09:53 am Job!!
I has a job! Wee! This would have been posted earlier, but my flat ran out of net last week, refreshed only in the weekend. I started Monday with Datacom. Due to the speed of things happening, nothing is ready for me here yet - I'm at a desk and computer of someone who's away, and using my (temporary) bosses log in to surf the net until they at least get me a user account. I'm getting paid less than my previous job, and less than the other developers around me here ... but more than any job my agents were offering me. Downsides of being hired during the downturn. I expect it'll get fixed when things start improving ... or I'll be looking elsewhere. But that'll be a while from now - and I'm settling for: Wee! I have a job! Tue, Jul. 21st, 2009, 03:50 pm Catch 22
So I've got 4-5 years working as a Java Developer. Apparently this over qualifies me for jobs looking for Developers with 2-3 years experiences. They won't take me on the basis I'll get bored and leave.
But it doesn't qualify me for jobs looking for 5+ years, they keep telling me I don't have sufficient experience, and they want someone with more.
I feel stuck in a bit of a catch 22. Wed, Jul. 15th, 2009, 01:12 am Job Hunting
I need a new method of job hunting. Currently I regularly check job websites (such as trademe jobs, seek, etc.), and have my name with every agency I know (and find). However it's now over 3 months since I got back, and I still don't have a job. I'm seriously getting sick of not being able to get out and about due to a lack of money.
My life is currently slowly falling apart, and this is something I see as helping to pull it back together.
So, any suggestions?
I'd just got my surround sound system up and going, and was starting to enjoy it in watching TV shows in bed with beautiful women ... and it's died. I'm not quite sure what's happened. It stopped responding to the remote, then stopped turning on and off. After tapping it all friendly like a couple of times it would switch on occasionally. And now it's completely died, and won't switch on at all.
No sounds, or smells to indicate something burnt out.
I attempted to pull it apart to investigate ... but the damn thing is built like a bomb bunker. I managed to find a hatch in the side with 6 screws that allows me to barely put my hand in, or peer into. Everything else appears to have been screwed into the woodwork, and then the sides solidly glued on. If you have small delicate hands, and a dainty screw driver then it might be possible to unscrew some parts to get them out. I have confirmed that all pluggable parts are firmly plugged in.
Now, I'm guessing that one of three things has died: The Transformer, which the power goes into before the switch. The front switch panel. It might be possible to unscrew from the inside, if you unscrew and remove everything else first. Or the circuit board, in which case I think I need a new system and sub ... less satellite speakers. Anyone got an induction voltage meter I can use to test things?
My plan were today to book the car in for it's warrent. Finish fixing the holes in the roof, only down to sanding the putty and painting over it. However, the keys for the doors are gone, so I'm locked in. The phone book is missing, so I can't book the car ... and finally the cat has gone psycho on me. It bit me hard enough to break skin.
Not my best day so far. Mon, Jun. 1st, 2009, 06:26 pm Smoothies
I've had a fruit craving for the last couple of days. Finally gave in and made myself smoothies! I wish to thank pandora_0 for teaching me good ways to make them. Mon, Jun. 1st, 2009, 09:36 am Missed Events
Damn it. Missed the WellyCon Warm Up. Was so wrapped up with all the other things I was trying to juggle this weekend I completely forgot it was on.
*cry*
I've moved, and it's my birthday next weekend. My new place is 1 Percy Dyett Drive, Karori West. And on the 16th I'm having a flatwarming come birthday party here, 8pm onwards. I'll be at Day of Games during the day, playing boardgames if anyone wants to come join me ($10 entry). Sun, Apr. 26th, 2009, 05:14 am Quiz Time
The Playboy Random Gentle Sex Master (RGSM) The Playboy
Clean. Smooth. Successful. You’re The Playboy.
You’re spontaneous, and your energy is highly contagious. Guys therefore find you fun to be around, and girls find you compelling. You have lots of sex, and you manage it all without seeming cheap or being hurtful. Well done. You probably know karate, too.
It’s obvious to us, and probably everyone else, that you’re after physical rather than emotional relationships, but you’re straight up with potential partners. And if a girl you want isn’t into something casual, it’s no big deal. You move on. BEFORE sleeping with her. Usually. At least you try to. Such control is rare.
If you’re feeling unfulfilled, maybe you should raise your standards. New conquests will only be satisfying if there’s a possibility of rejection.
---- Somehow this seem appropriate ... and I am currently feeling unfulfilled :(
One of the reason I was wanting to come back to New Zealand was because I missed my friends here. Not that I really had a choice in the matter, but it was a silver lining. Or so I thought.
Now that I'm actually back, it seems most of them are hanging out with my ex's, and don't really want me along. I can't afford to go out anywhere, so I find myself stuck at home every night playing the computer for lack of anything else to do.
I feel sad and pathetic. Thu, Mar. 12th, 2009, 01:29 pm Friday 13th
The second one in as many months. Surely there must be something happening somewhere. Sat, Feb. 21st, 2009, 08:47 am I'm back.
So I've successfully made it back.
Unfortunately my cargo hasn't ... not even showing up in their track and trace system :( And I cleverly left my sim card for my phone in my backpack, so have no valid NZ phone. Although my UK one seems to be working on the Vodafone network ... just charging me international rate Sun, Feb. 8th, 2009, 11:36 am Flat Hunting
Well, not quite directly from here ... But one of my intentions is to try and live with friends again. Somewhere I can happily have a regular role-playing session in the lounge with issues, and invite people over to play boardgames without flatmate problems.
So I'm asking friends in general, if they have a space going, or know of a space going in a friendly flat, can you please drop me a line.
Ps. I'd be able to move in from the 20th ... but should be able to cover something going before then. |
